When I grow up I want to live in Ireland, where should I live?
I found this gorgeous house in Colbinstown, Co. Kildare. Is Kildare a nice place to live? I plan on having children when I grow up too. Where is a nice place to live? I'm 13, I have plenty of time. My grandmother was born in Ireland so I can get citizenship... My great aunt lives in Wicklow I plan on going to college there too.

Where are you from? Because if you're not an EU national, you can forget about moving to Ireland anytime over the next 5 years. It's very very difficult. I would suggest doing a search on Yahoo Answers, as every week some starry-eyed Yank seems to want to move to Ireland looking for fairies or Irish men or whatever, and seem to have this idea that you can just arrive and expect to live here. Not that easy, as you will see when you do a search.

Be nice to her she's 13, for Christ's sake. How rude can you get, you old bag? Sweetheart, Kildare is wonderful place to live. However, getting a citizenship will be pretty tricky. I suggest studying abroad while in college first. Perhaps you'll meet an irish gent to marry ;) good luck!

Kildare is a great county; I go to University there. But I have to argue in favour of my county of residence - Wicklow! One of the most scenic in the country and with lots of lovely people!

I live in Kildare. It's alright but frankly there are far far nicer places. Kildare is flat, boring countryside and it's becoming increasingly rough as the Greater Dublin region expands and towns become more populated. You have the advantage of being a short commute to Diblin but other than that it hasn't got much in it's favour. I'd rather live in Munster or some of the more southerly counties in Leinster. Wicklow is nice but you'd be having trouble getting to college from there.

Having an Irish Granny is an advantage to getting citizenship. Wicklow would be good, you have family roots there, it's far enough away from Dublin to be rural. But close enough to allow easy access to creature comforts like plenty of restaurants, multiplex cinema's, shopping malls etc. Getting to college may be difficult, especially if the weather is bad- sometimes snow can make travel through rural areas almost suicidal. However, northern parts of Wicklow are close enough to Dublin to access public transport. And theres a main rail line down the east (wicklow) coast. Also the chances of getting a good job increase the nearer to Dublin you get. The weather is milder in the east (like Wicklow) as it's sheltered from the storms that can batter the west coast (like Galway). However, house prices in Wicklow can be expensive as it's in the commuter belt for Dublin.

I'd suggest somewhere in Limerick (It's not dangerous at all! Only people in feuds get killed now!), Dublin, Kerry and Cork. They have rural areas, suburbs and they have big cities. Perfect place to live.
