It's quite different, but not so different that you wouldn't be able to adapt. It is going to be more expensive for you, though. So if you do decide that you won't do your degree in the US, ask your Irish uni about exchange options, so you can spend a year or a summer in the US, at a US uni. Tons of students do this, and I recommend it highly.

America is a lot different than Europe culturally but I find from my travels to Europe that we don't have very many differences in our social practices. Once you adjust I think it would be a good opportunity.I would def. look into it. Before you decide you could do a international exchange program or study abroad internship of some kind.
