For those who live in Ireland, what kind of music do you listen to

For those who live in Ireland, what kind of music do you listen to?
I'm in the United States, and I chose Ireland to do research on considering that I'm Irish. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the music that you guys listen to, can you fill me in? This is for a school assignment, it's a HUGE part of my final grade. Please help as much as you can? And along with that, can you provide a website link possibly to find the music?

http://www.hotpress.com/ This is a link to an Irish music magazine, Irish people listen to a lot of different types of music. Alternative, Indie and Rock always goes down well. I'm also throwing in a few links for radio stations in Ireland: http://www.todayfm.com/Home.aspx http://www.2fm.ie/2fm/ If you're interested in more traditional Irish music, you need to say so but if you look around the RTE website you should find something as well.

If you are Irish, then how come you don't know what music we listen to? Anywho - I have the most random taste in music ever, I like anything from Pop, cheese and R&B to heavy metal and trad music. Here are the current charts: http://allcharts.org/music/ireland/singles.htm I like pretty much everything on there except 'If I Were A Boy' but Beyonce because it has been outplayed to within an inch of it's life, and I don't like her other song 'Put A Ring On It' , because it sounds just like every other song she has brought out.

First of all, you're not Irish. You're American with an Irish background - to us. We make a very clear distinction between someone nationality and their ethnic background. If you want to hear what people in Ireland are listening to, I suggest you look for some radio stations online. Try 2FM, Today FM, and any other channel that has national coverage. I think you'll find that the MTV MP3 generation listens to the same kind of music all over the world.

I presume its the same as america, plus everyones different, like i love anything that sounds good, like the beatles, kings of leon, the pixies, brittney spears, nine inch nails, daft punk, i pretty much love anything acoustic, i mean its so varied from punk and heavy metal, industrial right through to classical and traditional, i even listen to frank sinatra sometimes, the only type of music i hate is RnB and rap, but theres plenty of irish who love that music, also it depends on what age group your talking about most generations have different taste, sorry I couldnt be more help! I see people gave you links to 2fm and today fm, also try phantom fm, spin 1038, and fm 104! also look up irish musicians like paddy casey, damien rice, the pogues, christy more, aslan, Lisa hannagan, U2! theres others i could give but i wouldnt embarress the country! just type in a few of those names into you tube and im sure youll get an idea! hope i helped :)

Sorry to disappoint you but I don't listen to anything special, just bands from America or UK. If you are looking for bands from ireland, there is always The Undertones, Snow Patrol, Ash... Sorry I can't help more

Well we don't all listen to U2 and the dubliners.... I'm a bad example though, as I'm a musician, and don't have a passing interest in what I listen to. While I might listen to frank zappa, steve vai, rage against the machine or bumblefoot, a lot listen to bands like snow patrol, MGMT, the coronas, basically what the brits are listen to we listen to. We are only about 40 miles away after all...
