The instructions given were confusing and the picture of the assembled telescope is like the inverse of mine(typical). I would like to know how to find.... anything

Im not too sure but you can find Mars with the naked eye, if you look in the sky and find Orions belt (3 stars across) - go to the right of it and it looks like theirs a star which is slightly red which is mars. :D.

...quit using your telescope to look in your neighbors windows and look up at the SKY ! (at night)....

Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope.

Find a local astronomy club -- join and attend their meetings and star parties. Also Stellarium as mentioned above is a good resource for learning the sky-- And download a free monthly star chart at http://www.skymaps.com Clear Skies!

First off, you should get aquatinted with the sky. Star hopping is pretty useful (saves time finding constellations), but not to0 necessary (if you can readily identify constellations). Next, you may want to get a planetarium, a printed one is best. It can be reused, but it won't include recent discoveries if it's older. Finally, you may want to learn how to use the telescope and its finder scope. While you can observe w/o a finder scope, it makes a world of difference. The one they came with your telescope may be okay, but you may want to invest in a better one later. Happy observing.
