What time will you see the leonid meteor shower if you live in ireland??
Just wondering what would be the best time. Me and my family went out at 11:45 and at about 12:30 we saw a fireball it was amazing and we saw loads of shooting stars it was fantastic we were all sitting on my mam and aunts cars all wrapped in blankets. Brilliant night :)

Hi Groovy,..Pre-dawn is the "only" time,..

The time is between midnight and sun rise. As the earth moves toward to comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle's dust trail (that is what the shower comes from) it rotates (of course or we wouldn't have day & night). Let's call where we live on Earth as the face, and the other side of the earth as the back. During the day the Earth's face is toward the sun and as night approaches the earth is rotating away from the sun and away from the direction of the orbit, so before midnight our back is toward the direction of orbit, the direction of the dust trail, but at midnight the earth's face start's to be directed in the direction of the orbit hence is starting to face the dust trail then a few hours before dawn, the earth's face is full toward the dust trail, but then at dawn the face starts moving toward the sun and away from the direction of the orbit and away from the showers, but the cumulative factors of location along the orbital path and location on the Earth determines whether the best seeing will be closer to midnight or closer to dawn. The short answer is 21:00 your time for the peak. (see http://www.imo.net) Made you wait for it didn't I? ;)
