Where can I find families to live with in the western part of Ireland

Where can I find families to live with in the western part of Ireland?
I'm trying to work on my Irish language skills. (I'm an American.) And I was wondering if there were any organizations that allowed students to travel to Ireland and live with a family in an Irish-speaking community. Thanks.

There are not as many adult opportunities for staying with families, although you don't actually say what age you are. This address and number below is one of the best schools in the country and you should contact them with specific questions. But if you're younger and want to spend money, I'd say you can do two things. I would recommend visiting the gaeltachts(areas where Irish is still spoken on an everyday basis) in Galway or Donegal on holiday for a few weeks and stay in a tent or a hostel for the time. B and B's are expensive but the landlady will not hesitate to 'immerse you' in the language if you'd like. It might be even cheaper than attending courses but of course it depends on how well you learn by yourself. there are lectures and courses in north america too. This website below details some traveling courses you might be interested in: http://www.daltai.com/events.htm (though here the last entry seems only applicable) And there's a town in Canada which has now been designated a gaeltacht too. Here's some info, and sorry for using Wiki... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permanent_North_American_Gaeltacht Below is the address of the Donegal school... Cumann an Phiarsaigh, Ballyconnell, Falcarragh, Co. Donegal Emphasis on catering for the family. Inquiries to: Cumann an Phiarsaigh An Chnoc Muineachán Co.
